India Wildlife News follows what happens to this country’s wild plants and animals, and to the people who live alongside them.

Most days we aggregate the wildlife stories moving through Indian media, with full credit and links back to the publishers who did the original reporting. We also write our own pieces, drawn from primary material rather than someone else’s coverage of it — court judgments, forest department orders, published research, the statements of scientists and conservationists working in the field.

The beats we return to most often are the ethics of wildlife tourism, human-wildlife conflict, and the policy and law that shape both. Between the news we run explainers on India’s less celebrated species, essays from the forest, a weekly quote and a Sunday photograph, and a regularly updated list of wildlife jobs, internships and grants. We pay particular attention to states that get less coverage than they deserve, Tamil Nadu and the northeast among them.

We check what we publish, and we correct what we get wrong. If you spot an error, write to us and we will fix it.
